Local LTL Service

Trans BC Freightways LTL is an acronym for a shipment that is less than a truckload. This means a shipment that does not require a full 53-foot trailer. It’s a convenient, cost-effective way to deal with smaller loads, but not many carriers offer this service.

LTL Service Area

Trans BC Freightways offers LTL service to our entire lower mainland of British Columbia coverage area using our own extensive fleet of trucks. For some Canadian and international shipping we work through one of our trusted partners.

Every day Trans BC Freightways picks up LTL shipments from around the Greater Vancouver Area (GVA) for same day delivery to the lower mainland. Of course, next day delivery to the GVA is also available.

The convenient, cost effective and practical service is used by many businesses that need quick reliable service and are not well served by other carriers.

Benefits of LTL Shipping

Reduce Costs : When booking an LTL shipment, you only pay for the portion of the trailer used. The rest of the cost is covered by the other occupants of the trailer's space.

Increases security: Most LTL shipments are packaged onto pallets before being loaded onto a truck. One well-packaged pallet has a better chance of remaining secure than shipments with multiple smaller handling units. LTL increases the safety of shipment is with packing performed by the carrier. Shipment Packages loaded onto pallets or into crates have a better chance of remaining secure compared to that of small package shipping. LTL carriers manage shipping routes with as few stops as possible.

Additional Service Options: When shipping via LTL, you gain access to special services like liftgates and inside pickup and delivery.

Environmentally Conscious : LTL shipping combines shipments from several businesses on one trailer, this results in fewer trucks on the road compared to more trucks at half capacity. Less trucks on the road equals less carbon emissions.

  • Mode: Expedited or refrigerated shipments can incur higher prices.
  • Distance: Typically the longer the haul, the higher the price.
  • Dimensions: The dimensions and weight of the shipment help determine the freight class, which directly impacts rates.
  • Type: Special handling (lift-gates, inside delivery) or commodity (perishables, fragile, hazardous items) will lead to higher costs.
